Hejnice (in german Haindorf) is a small town in the north part of the Czech Republic, about 16 kilometers northeast of Liberec. It has about 2,700 inhabitants. The town is located in a valley on the northern slopes of the Jizera Mountains, crossed by the River Smědá.
Although the first written mention dates from 1381, but the place already mentioned in a legend from the 13th century. The site became a pilgrimage site on which the church was built later. after several centuries the Franciscan monastery was added and the church was rebuilt in baroque style.
