# Primes, the Riemann Hypothesis, and Random Matrices

## Abstract

I will discuss the distribution of prime numbers and the Riemann hypothesis, and will describe connections between the Riemann zeta function and the characteristic polynomials of random matrices. These connections are of a statistical nature and confirm the Polya Hilbert Philosophy-that the Riemann Hypothesis is true because the zeros of the Riemann zeta function somehow correspond to the eigenvalues of a unitary operator.
