This week we will have Petr Chmel presenting two recent related papers: - Ryan Williams: Simulating Time with Square-Root Space (STOC 2025) - James Cook, Ian Mertz: Tree Evaluation Is In Space O(log n log log n) (STOC 2024)

Both papers are important and approachable whether you are a computer scientist or a mathematician.
