This week we will have two presentations by two of our new postdocs:

*1. Anna Limbach: From Graphs to Graphons and Back*

This talk gives an introduction to graphons from two perspectives -- once, as the limit objects of sequences of dense graphs and once as a source to generate homogeneous random graphs. We take a look at recent findings and current open problems.

*2. Niloufar Fuladi: Discrete Surfaces, Decompositions, and Crossing Numbers*

In this talk, I will introduce graphs embedded on surfaces and discuss their combinatorial and geometric representations. Such embeddings provide discrete models of continuous surfaces, enabling a range of computational and structural questions. In particular, I will focus on problems involving short decompositions of surfaces and low-complexity drawings, including the computation of short canonical decompositions and bounds on crossing numbers.
