By statistical distributions we mean the calculation of various univariable or multivariable generating functions for statistics on those groups, and by statistic we
mean integer-valued functions, such as the length function or the flag-major index, that prolong the classical inversion number or the major index to other Weyl
groups, essentially the infinite families B_n, C_n, D_n (n>0). The equidistribution of two statistics
is usually proved by constructing an explicit bijection of combinatorial nature and the calculation of the generating functions involves several aspects of
q-calculus. My intention is to illustrate those two aspects.

do
soucasnosti jako asistent a pote profesor na Univerzite ve Strasburku,
kde je nyni emeritnim profesorem. Pusobil jako hostujici profesor na rade univerzit v USA, Kanade, Italii a Australii. Z oceneni prof. Foaty zminme pouze zvanou
prednasku na Mezinarodnim matematickem kongresu ve Varsave v r. 1983, cenu Scientific Prize of the Union des Assur. Paris v r. 1985 a slavnostni sbornik vydany na
jeho pocest casopisem Electronic Journal of Combinatorics v r. 1996. Je editorem ctyr mezinarodnich matematickych casopisu a vychoval vice nez 15 doktorandu. Zabyva
se algebraickou a enumerativni kombinatorikou, teorii specialnich funkci, pravdepodobnosti
a statistikou, teorii algoritmu a pocitacovou typografii. Prazske kolokvium prof. Foaty se dotyka rady oblasti jeho profesniho zajmu
a je urceno nejsirsi matematicke verejnosti.
