Algebraická teorie čísel / Algebraic Number Theory, should be more correctly and precisely: Algebraic Methods in Number Theory and Combinatorics, NDMI066, winter term 2026/27

This time I will go through the book on Diophantine equations by L. J. Mordell.
Exam questions. TBA
Lecture 1 on October 2, 2026. See writeup 1 Chapters 1 and 2 (updated October 2).
Lecture 2 on October 9, 2026. See writeup 2 Chapters 3 and 4 (to do).
Lecture 3 on October 16, 2026. Discussion over my October 13 lecture on Diophantine equations in the Institute for Theoretical Physics (10th floor of the scyscraper in Trója).
Lecture 4 on October 23, 2026. No lecture, nobody came.
Lecture 5 on October 30, 2026. I decided to abandon Mordell's excentric book. In the rest of the course, I plan to give overview of the three existing proofs (Thue, Skolem, Baker) of the theorem that every Thue D. equation has only finitely many solutions. I started the explanation of the 1st proof, as I wrote it down 16 years ago in my lecture notes.
